The shop behind the boards
Sawdust, patience, and a wood-burner.
Made by J started the way most good things do — with a single board, a borrowed wood-burner, and the stubborn idea that something handmade beats something mass-produced every time.
What began as gifts for family turned into commissions for friends, and then for strangers who'd seen one on a wall and wanted their own. Every piece is still made the same way: chosen by hand, sanded smooth, and burned line by line.
No two boards are the same, and that's the point. The grain decides part of it, the design decides the rest, and your story ties it together.
How a board comes together
A solid pine round is picked for its grain and character — knots and rings welcome.
Your monogram, motif, or motto is wood-burned by hand, freehand and slow.
Sanded, sealed, and ready to hang or serve — built to hold up for years.
